Brief Description

Global People Performance is a sub-function within the Global Organization Strategy and Performance function at MTN Group HR. The Specialist: Global People Performance will assist and support the Senior Manager and Consultant in executing the Global People Performance Management process, initiatives and activities. The Specialist is further required to provide input, maintain and update all frameworks within the performance space.


The Specialist, Global People Performance reports to the Senior Manager: Global People Performance. The position will interface with multiple teams within the Manco and the Global HR Expertise Verticals and Opco Community to deliver role expectations.

Detailed Description

Key Deliverables
The Specialist: Global People Performance will be accountable to achieve the following objectives:

Strategic Meetings:
– Provide input in strategic meetings, if required and prepare action items for follow up
– Provide input to enterprise-wide transformation initiatives when required
– Provide input to and ensure adequate risk mitigation and controls
– Provide input into the preparation of proposal on change initiatives SLA, policies, and procedures

– Escalate issues that will result in severe time, scope, productivity, and cost or resource impact
– Provide input into solutions to escalations that have multiple processes/functions impact on the critical path of service delivery

Functional Tactical:
– Provide input into all projects initiated (internal or global)
– Prepare documentation required for sign-off / making decisions regarding tactical changes

– Support in execution and alignment with the functional strategy
– Report on a periodic basis to the SM: Global People Performance relating to progress made within the function and in accordance with the measurement metrics set by the organization
– Report on an ad hoc basis on specific projects, as required
– Report periodically on KPI Scorecards

Operational Delivery:
– Perform support activities and tasks to enable execution of the global people performance sub-function plan 
– Provide assistance in executing global performance process for MTN including 
– Support the team in ensuring consistency in the rollout of the Integrated Performance Framework (IPF) 
– Assist in organizing, scheduling, preparing and execution of interactions with Business Talent Partners, Regional Talent Partners and Opco HR Practitioners. This includes, but is not limited to:
     – Train-the-trainer performance management sessions and counseling
     – Performance process briefings and updates
     – Periodic governance meetings/cascade sessions
     – Query, issue and escalation resolutions 
     – Knowledge and best practice sharing 
     -Others as required
– Assist in the development of standards and ad-hoc communication and marketing content to build awareness, common understanding and to promote the MTN global performance management model and process, in conjunction with the Internal Communications team 
– Assist in the maintenance of KPI Libraries and other performance related repositories
– Development and maintenance  of the Performance Management cycle and calendar in alignment with the implementation and rollout guidelines
– Assist with research, data collation and analysis to support the design, measurement, and validation of Executive KPIs and Bonus Agreements, as required. Assist in managing the documentation, audit trails and process compliance activities, thereof
– Provide assistance in data gathering, collation and analysis of the global performance process metrics, by liaising with the Global HR Strategy and Analytics team
– Proactively identify and present opportunities and ideas to improve the global performance framework, tools, technologies, processes, and techniques, to the functional SM
– Assist in the preparation of Global Performance related Executive Dashboards/Committee Meetings/Status Updates  
– Give input into the development and implementation of Global Performance special projects and initiatives. Onboard and develop strong working relationships with Manco Business Partner and Opco HR teams to ensure successful execution and delivery thereof
– Coordinate and manage the day to day operations, relating to the following:
     – Initiation, management, and closure of the global performance management cycle
     – Monitoring and follow up on process completion and activity status
     – Collate and consolidate all KPI measurement metrics for the Senior Executives and CxOs 
– Provide training and consulting support to ensure effective adoption and use of global performance management tools across Opcos
– Assist in the preparation, monitoring, and reporting of key global performance process metrics and analytics across MTN. Share relevant reports with Manco Business and Regional Partners to enable appropriate action and correction
– Assist and provide input into the preparation of Management/Executive MIS/Reports and Insights relating to global performance trends, process compliance, specific productivity and performance indicators/metrics, etc.

Job Requirements

– Minimum of 3 or 4-year Diploma / Degree (Commerce / Finance / Human Resources / Behavioural Sciences)

– 2 years of working experience; Track record of work experience as a student
